Our Growing Family of Guards
The journey to custom designing radio guards started in 2023 when we launched our first designs for the Motorola 7550 and 3500 radios. These guards were born out of a simple but critical need Jacob experienced first hand: to protect essential communication gear from accidental adjustments and mishaps during use. We listened to feedback from the field and recognized the importance of creating solutions that could stand up to the demands of real-world environments.
Since then, we’ve spent countless hours designing, testing, and perfecting guards for leading brands like Motorola, Harris, and Kenwood radios. Our process wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible partnerships we’ve built along the way.
📡 A Team Effort:
We owe a huge thanks to the end users, companies, and distributors who partnered with us, generously loaning radios for the design process. Your insights and support helped us refine every detail, ensuring our guards meet the highest standards of durability and functionality.
Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to continue expanding our guard lineup to support even more commercial radios. If you use a radio that could benefit from added protection, we’d love to hear from you!

Introducing Our Give Back Program for Volunteer First Responders
At Skookum Works, we understand the vital role first responders play in keeping our communities safe. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our new Give Back Program designed exclusively for volunteer first responder teams.
As part of this initiative, we’ll be donating a portion of our proceeds to provide radio guards and accessories to volunteer firefighters, EMS personnel, and search-and-rescue teams. These heroes often work with limited resources, and we want to do our part to equip them with the tools they need to stay connected and protected in the field.
Here’s how it works:
Each month, we will select one volunteer first responder organization (e.g., Search and Rescue, Volunteer Firefighters, Volunteer Ski Patrol) to receive 20 Skookum Works Guards (approx value up $800 CAD).
Thats up to $9,600 worth of radio guards we will give away this year!
We believe that by giving back to the individuals who give so much to us. Our Goal is to support 12 volunteer emergency teams and up to 240 individual responders with gear that improves safety and operational efficiency. While strengthening the connection between Skookum Works and the first responder community in a meaningful way.
