The Knob Blocker Version 1.4 - Release Notes

Release Date – Feb 20, 2024

What’s New - channel guard height lowered

What’s fixed - We made the channel knob easier to adjust quickly while using our Knob Blocker.

What’s improved – On previous versions of our Knob Blocker, the guard covered the full front of the channel selector. Changing the channel was achievable from the back side, with intentional effort. We reduced the height of the channel knob guard, so it is easier to manipulate and change channels from the front and back with two fingers. The entire top portion of the channel knob is now easily accessible to grasp with your fingers.

The Knob Blocker (volume and channel guard) - Version 1.4 - Released Feb 20, 2024

Why we designed The Knob Blocker 2-way radio volume and channel guard

Our founder is a member of our local Squamish Search and Rescue team. The idea came after hanging under the long line of a helicopter and having accidentally bumped the volume down to the lowest setting on his radio. This resulted in not being able to hear anything without realizing it, which was a serious safety concern.

Our volume and channel two-way radio guard can also be used to protect your 2-way radio knobs from damage. The Knob Blocker two-way portable radio guards creates rigidity by evenly distributes pressure on the volume and channel knobs and spreads any load on the knobs between both knobs and the antenna, reducing the likelihood damage to the knobs over time.

The Knob Blocker two-way radio guard is designed for

Industries that use two-way portable radios: emergency responders (police, firefighters, paramedics, search and rescue), security guards, ski patrol, manufacturing, utility companies, forestry, transportation and hospitality.

Material

We use PETG (Polyethylene terephaphthalate Glycol), a thermoplastic material for 3D printing The Knob Blocker. PETG is one of the most popular filaments for 3D prints because it has high impact strength, durability , resistance to water intrusion and good printability offering excellent layer adhesion. PETG is a food-safe material and is recyclable.
